I want to get a marriage license. What do I do?
Both parties must appear in person at the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours.

It costs $50 to get a marriage license.
How long does it take to get a marriage license?
It takes approximately 30 minutes to get a marriage license.
Do I need an appointment to get a marriage license?
No. You may come in to get your marriage license during our regular business hours, which are: Mon/Wed/Thu - 8:30 - 2:00 and Tuesdays 1:00 - 7:00. If you are unable to come to the Town Hall during those hours, please call the Town Clerk's office and we will set up an appointment.
This is my first marriage. What paperwork do I need to bring?
You need to supply a photo ID (driver's license or passport).
This is my second marriage. What paperwork do I need to bring?
You need to supply a photo ID and the original copy of the latest occurrence of death or divorce. The death or divorce certificate must be the original copy with the gold or raised seal. The Town Clerk cannot accept a photocopy.
After I have been married, how do I get official copies of my marriage certificate?
Marriage Certificates are not automatically sent to you. You must purchase them at the Town Clerk's office. Your certificate will be ready to print as soon as your wedding officient completes and returns the license to the Clerk.
What is the cost of Certified Copies?
Certified Copies are $15.00 for the first copy and $10.00 for extra copies on the same day. To save money, you should get as many Certified Copies as you need during the first transaction.
Is there a waiting period after getting a marriage license before we can get married?
No. There is no longer a waiting period after getting the license. You can get a marriage license and get married the same day.
How long is the license valid?
A marriage license is valid for 90 days.
