Are there any exemptions or credits available?

Yes. Strafford offers veteran’s tax credits, as well as tax exemptions for the elderly and disabled. Please call the Selectmen’s Office for further information. For contact information and office hours, please click here.

Do I qualify for the Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief Program?

To apply for Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief, you must reside in the home as of April 1st of the year of the claim and have total household income of $37,000 or less if a single person or $47,000 or less if married or head of a NH household. You may be eligible for a refund from the State on a portion of the state education rate from your property tax bill. To apply, Form DP-8 is available at the Tax Collector’s Office. Completed forms must be postmarked between May 1st and June 30th and are submitted directly to the NH Department of Revenue Administration.

Am I eligible for the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act?

You may qualify for the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Civil Relief Act if you have outstanding taxes due to the Town of Strafford; you are called to active duty and request relief; or your activation papers stipulate Title 10. Please contact the Tax Collector’s Office for more information.
