The Strafford Town Clerk’s Office can supply Certified Copies (Abstracts) for events that occurred in New Hampshire.
New Hampshire vital records are considered to be private and access to them is restricted by statute to those individuals who have a “direct and tangible interest” in the record. Individuals such as the registrant and immediate family are entitled to request copies. We can not issue to cousins, in-laws, or other parties without proof of tangible interest. RSA 5-C:9
NOTICE: Any person shall be guilty of a CLASS B Felony if he/she willfully and knowingly makes any false statement in an application for a certified copy of a vital record. RSA 5-C:14
You can apply for a Certified Copy of a Vital Record in person, by mail, or online.
In Person: at the Town Hall, 12 Mountain View Dr, Strafford (behind the Post Office)
You will need to show a Photo ID & Fill out an Application
By Mail: Print, fill out and sign Vital Record Application
Make Check out to “Strafford Town Clerk: for appropriate fees (see below), plus $1 mailing fee.
Mail Application, check, copy of Photo ID, contact number and return address

There is a $15 fee for record searching. If the record is found, you will receive a certified copy. If you require more than one copy of a record, each additional copy of the same record purchased at the same time is $10.
